Silver Coast Expats

Expat thinking about life on the Silver Coast

How Expats can live happily and successfully on the beautiful Silver Coast of Portugal

- Understanding the challenges for expats moving and living abroad.

When we choose to live abroad we envisage all sorts of positive changes in our lives. Indeed the decision is often driven by a clear desire to improve any number specific concerns or frustrations such as cost of living; warm sunshine through to straightforward happiness.

The reality of moving abroad necessarily ends many things that may have been perceived to be part of the problem. It also forces a new environment in which many of our standard cultural norms can be challenged. Whilst this is ultimately enriching for many people, the process can be seriously disorientating and disruptive. Understanding how we are all affected by the transition cycle and in the particular context of cultural changes can be very empowering. Appreciating all this with the awareness of our own individual characteristics and histories enables us to truly make the difference in our lives abroad to know where happiness is and how to get there, or at least closer to the life fulfilment desired.

If you relate to this situation and want to do something specific, or you recognise some of the pattern and would like to know a little bit more the following options may be of interest:
